Multiple Awards for Umami Chef at Farm Shop and Deli Show

Umami Chef has been awarded three Farm Shop & Deli 2022 awards – with every single product they entered being given an accolade. This was an especially good achievement as it was the first awards they had ever entered.

Umami Chef was founded in 2019 by Jackie Bailey. It was the first company in the UK approved to grow koji – a naturally occurring fungus, which has been used for centuries to make Japanese fermented foods like miso, soy sauce and sake. The business, based in Worcester, is growing rapidly thanks to the current interest in naturally fermented foods.

The company won silver awards for their Sweet White Fava Miso Paste and Filtered Shio Koji and a Bronze for Fresh Shio Koji. They hope to spread the word about Japanese fermented foods and encourage people to eat miso made with beans grown in the UK.
