The guest list for the Severn Valley Railway’s Spring Diesel Festival has got even longer, with the announcement that two further locomotives will be appearing at the event, between 15 and 18 May.
The latest confirmations are for 57003 to visit by agreement with Locomotive Services Limited for all four days, and on the Saturday and Sunday, a Class 69 will appear, courtesy of GB Railfreight.
Colas are sending two of their Class 56s, there’ll be a pair of HST power cars from Rail Adventure as well as Class 66 and Class 70 locomotives from Freightliner. The extensive SVR home fleet will feature examples of Classes 17, 20, 33, 37, 40, 42, 46, 50 and 52.
‘Our spring diesel event is always about gathering together examples of the best heritage and modern diesel traction,’ said the SVR’s managing director, Jonathan ‘Gus’ Dunster. ‘With today’s announcements, we’re swelling the ranks of both categories, and we’re extremely grateful to LSL and GBRf for their continuing support.’
The Spring Diesel Festival will take place across the 12 miles of line between Kidderminster and Hampton Loade. Bridgnorth, at the northern end of the line remains cut off following a landslip in January.
There’ll be an intensive timetable, including late services on the Friday and Saturday evenings, and tours of the Traction Maintenance Department and the Carriage Shed at Kidderminster will be bookable on the day, at the Fifty Fund stand on the station concourse.
