HAINES Watts Worcester associate James Howard is making his 2020 London Marathon debut on behalf of Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby.
The charity has provided more than £350,000 of funding to projects in Worcestershire, including an outdoor classroom at Riverside School in Worcester and a play area at New Hope Worcester.
Two projects given the green light for 2020 are a new sensory room at Dines Green Community Academy in Worcester and a new running track at St Bartholemew’s Primary School in Stourport.
The first £2,000 raised by father-of-two James will go to the national Wooden Spoon charity and every penny over this figure will be retained within the county to help disadvantaged children.
James, who is a Wooden Spoon and Worcestershire Advance board member, said: “As a keen rugby player myself, I fully support the charity’s objective to give all children the opportunity to participate in the sport.
“I’m more accustomed to being in the scrum than running for hours at a time but would love to raise as much money as I can for this fantastic cause.”
