The world of export documentation can appear to be difficult and complicated to those who are new to international trade and even the seasoned exporters can experience problems when completing the necessary paperwork for their shipments. 

We have many years of experience in assisting exporters and issuing them with a wide range of documents used in international business. We are authorised by HM Government and nationally accredited to certify Certificates of Origin (United Kingdom and Arab) and UK EUR1 certificates, invoices and other documents as required in International Trade and also ATA Carnets for temporary movement of goods. What export documentation certificates do we provide?

Certificates of origin & authentication

Certificates of Origin are international trade documents that show the origin of exported goods.  They are completed by exporters and are certified by a Chamber of Commerce.

There are two types of Certificates of Origin, United Kingdom Certificates of Origin which are accepted by most countries around the world and Arab-British Certificate of Origin which are used when dealing with Arab League nations.

When and why do I need it?

Not every country has a Certificate of Origin requirement but for those that do, one will be required to get your goods cleared through overseas customs and to your customer.  Even when you are dealing with a country that does not require them, they may be necessary for you to get paid if you are dealing with a Letter of Credit.

How can I apply for a Certificate of Origin?

Online application

You can apply using our online service, Ecert.

Express service – Allows you to print out your certificate in your office, typically within 2 hours of applying *.

Standard Service: Apply before 2pm to get your document processed the same day *. Collection or post available.

 *Applications with 5+ manufacturers take longer to check, therefore we cannot guarantee such a quick turn around for these applications.

Arab British certification and legalisation

A UK Arab-British Certificate of Origin is a Customs clearance requirement in some countries to evidence the origin of the goods. It may also be requested by the importing company. Arab Certificates of Origin may be used for Arab League States as shown below:

ATA Carnets service

What is an ATA Carnet?

An ATA Carnet is an international Customs document that operates like a passport for your goods.  It allows the temporary importation of goods in to countries that are part of the ATA Carnet system and avoids you having to pay unnecessary taxes or duties.

ATA Carnets cover all goods that are leaving the UK and returning within a 12 month period.  They do not cover disposable goods that will be used while out of the country or items that will not be returning to the UK.

When and why do I need it?

If your goods are going outside of the UK and into one of the 40+ countries that accepts ATA Carnets and you are going for one of the following reasons:

  • You are exhibiting at an International Trade Fair/Exhibition
  • You are taking Commercial Samples with you to business meetings to try and generate business
  • Your goods are going out for Professional Equipment purposes to perform their function or to undergo testing

If this applies to you, you should be using an ATA Carnet. The ATA Carnet simplifies the customs procedure into a single document and makes the importation process much quicker and easier to handle.

Why do I need a UK EUR1 certificate?

A UK EUR1, also known as a ‘movement certificate’, enables importers in certain countries to import goods at a reduced or nil rate of import duty under trade agreements between the UK and partner countries.

How do I apply for a certificate?
