Inspiring Women Take the Stage at Worcester Business School

The successes of women connected to the University of Worcester will be celebrated ahead of International Women’s Day in a special event at Worcester Business School.

Held at the University’s City Campus on Friday 6 March, 4.15-7pm, the event will feature talks from inspirational students, graduates, staff and collaborators of the University, giving them a platform to share authentic, personal stories of growth, challenge, and achievement.

International Women’s Day, marked globally on 8 March, is an opportunity to reflect on the social, cultural, economic and political contributions of women across the world. This year’s theme, ‘Give to Gain’, focusses on how giving time, support, and knowledge can create opportunities for all.

Dr Helen Watts, Deputy Head of Worcester Business School and creator of the event, said: “This is about celebrating real stories and challenges of real people; our students, our alumni, and our business community. Many have never presented before but their stories are powerful, honest, and hugely inspiring.”

Each speaker will deliver a short talk of around 10-15 minutes, making the event dynamic and wide ranging. Past speakers have included undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD researchers and participants from the University’s Help to Grow programme.

The event is open to anyone with an interest in women’s experiences, personal development, business, community or education.

“It’s for anyone who wants to come along, listen, reflect, and offer support,” Dr Watts said. “The audience plays a huge part by simply being there and celebrating our speakers.”

Previous International Women’s Day events at Worcester Business School have been extremely well received, with positive feedback from attendees, who praise the range of speakers and reflective, supportive atmosphere the event creates.

“Feedback has always been really strong,” said Dr Watts. “People tell us they enjoy hearing such honest and inspiring stories, and many reflect on their own experiences as students or professionals. That sense of connection is what makes the event so special.”
