HWGTA celebrates 55 years of outstanding Apprenticeship results

Apprentices were hosted at the 55th Annual Awards evening by Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training Association(HWGTA) at the Courtyard Theatre, Hereford. In attendance were over 200 apprentices with their proud parents and employers, the Chairman of Herefordshire Council, the High Sheriff of Herefordshire and alumnae of Herefordshire Group Training Association.

The evening celebrated the outstanding quality of teaching and learning across Engineering, Commerce and Management Apprentice programmes.  Enjoying success rates of 24% above the national average for apprenticeships, HWGTA also celebrated individual programme success, such as a 100% pass rate on synoptic assessment in accountancy training and 60% of apprentices achieving distinction in parts of the engineering programme.

Apprentices were praised for their outstanding adaptability, dedication, commitment and endeavour.  Certificates & trophies were presented by former HWGTA Apprentices Ed Pitt, Managing Director of KGD Engineering and James Bolton, Director of Global Government Payment Solutions at Visa Government Solutions.

Employers were praised for their support and encouragement of the Apprenticeship programmes.  Special Awards were given to representatives from allpay, Central Roofing, H R Smith, Heineken, Herefordshire Council, KGD Industrial Services, Lockett & Co., R J Francis & Co, Safelane Global, Special Metals, Suntory, Thorne Widgery and Wye Valley NHS Trust.

As well as making apprentices outstanding engineers, administrators, customer service specialists, accountants and managers, HWGTA also look to significantly develop confidence, professionalism and encourage our learners to contribute to their community.  Through the work of the staff and the apprentice council, the association raised significant funds for a variety of charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, The CLD Trust and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The Worcestershire Group Training Association Apprenticeship Awards will take place on 19th January at Sixways Stadium.
