Home worker research sheds light on fenestration opportunities

Window profile manufacturer REHAU is securing national headlines after a survey of 2,000 remote workers found that the average worker gets just 22 minutes of natural daylight per day.

Looking into working-from-home conditions, the research found 30% complained their workspace lacked natural light, with 36% saying this definitely lowered motivation. These findings have been reported in The Sun and The Express.

Around 20% of respondents looked to make their working area window-adjacent, with 65% believing this improves productivity. With the home renovation market booming, this demand for natural light creates opportunities for windows professionals. Yet despite prolonged home working arrangements, 61% of respondents still considered their set-up temporary.

Stephen Beresford, Head of Marketing and Communications at REHAU Windows, said: “This research shows natural light and windows are key considerations for householders when improving their homes. Additionally, with flexible remote working adopted by many businesses, these temporary spaces will likely become permanent, so we expect home investments like doors and windows to continue.”
