A North Herefordshire holiday park continues to honour its 2024 Silver Anniversary pledge by donating yet another thousand pounds to charity.
November’s nomination from Discover Parks to mark 25 years of trading, goes to Acorns Children’s Hospice that provides specialist palliative care to babies, children and young people across the West Midlands.
The charity was nominated by the ‘Lodge’ family of Walsall, who’ve been holiday home owners at Pearl Lake Country Holiday Park at Shobdon for over 5 decades.
“Acorn’s was instrumental in giving end of life care to my niece Sarah, enabling her parents Anna & Jim to have invaluable respite during what was an extremely emotional and difficult time. We cannot thank them enough for their incredible support throughout and park owners Glenn and Hannah Jones for their generous donation.” says nominee Jane Lodge.
Acorn’s has three hospices, based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, they also work within the surrounding communities caring for over a thousand families in total and need around £30,000 each day to provide its children’s hospice care. Two thirds of this comes from generous donations and fundraising by the local community.
“It was important to us to mark our special milestone in business at Shobdon,” said MD of Discover Parks Glenn Jones. “ We wanted to give something back to the customers that have supported us at Pearl Lake Country Park over the 25 years we’ve owned it and nominating a charity close to their hearts was a wonderful way to do this. Each month this year we’ve heard some incredibly touching and meaningful stories with November’s Acorns Children’s Hospice being no exception.”
Mel Hall, Area Fundraiser for Acorns said: “We are thrilled and so very grateful to Discover Parks for choosing Acorns Children’s Hospice to be the recipient of the wonderful £1000 donation.”
