On Thursday 5th December, the Hereford & Worcester Army Cadet Force hosted a charitable event at the Officers’ Mess at 214 Battery 104 Regiment. The event was attended by Cadets and Adults from the Gheluvelt Coy, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Worcestershire, Mrs. Beatrice Grant; Alamein Company’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Worcestershire; Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Mel Allcott; and Adam Morse and Katie Hill from Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.
The event was to help raise awareness, funds, and volunteers for the cadets. The attendees heard from Cadets from the Worcester TP on their experiences and how the Cadets have made a significant impact and taught them valuable life skills. Representing the adults, Assistant Commandant Major Jeff Hyde also reflected on his time in the ACF with a short presentation on social impact and funding.
“The ACF has changed a great deal since I first joined as a young cadet all those years ago, but the fundamentals of what we deliver hasn’t changed. That’s incredibly special,” Major Hyde says.
The Hereford & Worcester Army Cadet Force is home to over 700 cadets and 160 adult volunteers in 20 detachments. They are currently looking for support or volunteers. The ACF (Army Cadet Force) is funded by the Ministry of Defence, but with recent adjustments to funding, the ACF is looking for any support businesses or individuals can offer.
To then finish a wonderful and inspiring evening, a surprise promotion for the senior NCO at Pershore Tp—courtesy of the Lord Lieutenant herself, Mrs. Beatrice Grant. A fantastic way to become a Cadet Sergeant.
The Cadets and Adults thanked Major Dickie Head (Ret’d) for his organisational input and Mrs. Judith Harrison, her colleagues, and the accompanying guests for their hospitality.
The Chamber is delighted to demonstrate our support for the Armed Forces Community by signing an Armed Forces Covenant and being successfully awarded gold level of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
