AN ARTISAN Herefordshire wine maker is attending the Hellens Garden Festival next week so visitors can meet the team and taste its award-winning products while also helping fundraise for charity (June 8 and 9, 2024).
Visitors to Hellens Manor in Much Marcle on June 8 and 9 will be able to sample Foxbury Fields Vineyard’s English wines made from the grapes grown on vines in nearby Bromsberrow.
Foxbury Fields Vineyard founder, Heather Williamson, who is also Chairman of Wyevale Nurseries, says: “It’s great to be back at Hellens Garden Festival this year and once again to be helping raise funds for two great local charities. We’ll be offering visitors the chance to try award-winning English wines and to chat to us about our vineyard, which is close to the venue.
“We’re big fans of this festival, as it is multi-generational and dogs are welcome too! All profits from the event will be donated to two regional beneficiaries – St Michael’s Hospice and Back to the Wild. This year’s festival looks set to be as wonderful as the last. It’s great fun and includes lots of fabulous activities. Plus, the wonderful, landscaped gardens and grounds of Hellens Manor near Ledbury provide a spectacular backdrop.
“Hellens Garden Festival is a fabulous celebration of all that is typically English with plants, produce, crafts and sustainability at its heart, so our home-grown and locally made wines are a perfect fit.”
Foxbury Fields Vineyard produces small batch Bacchus and Ortega wines from grapes grown in a unique micro-climate at the foot of the Malvern Hills.
Heather continues: “We’ve been winning regional and national awards for our wines for many years and have a range of accolades from silver and bronze to highly commended.
“We were awarded with bronze medals last year for both our 2021 Bacchus and Ortega wines from WineGB and a silver for our 2022 Ortega and our 2022 Bacchus at last year’s WineGB West awards event, which had a judging panel of industry experts including leading wine journalist, Susy Atkins.”
WineGB is the national association for English and Welsh wines and works to promote them.
Foxbury Fields sells direct to consumers online via its website www.foxburyfields.co.uk and purchasers can collect their orders from the vineyard by arrangement only.
Its wines are also available at various stockists in Herefordshire and Shropshire and for collection, by arrangement only, from Wyevale Nurseries in Hereford, which is one of the UK’s leading commercial nurseries and is family-owned. It’s currently run by Heather, who is Chairman of the company and one of the third generation of Williamsons to be involved with the business.
Foxbury Fields Vineyard will be at Hellens Garden Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9. Details on how to book tickets are available here: https://hellensgardenfestival.co.uk
