Over the past 12 weeks the team and volunteers at the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust have been busy supporting oncology families in the Worcestershire area by delivering essential care packages.
To date 102 have been sent out to families affected by childhood cancer. They have been in strict isolation for a minimum of 12 weeks but it is likely this will continue due to children having little or no immunity.
The charity have been there to help these families at what is already a hard time for them but with the added stress and worry of Covid-19 the past few months have really been extraordinarily tough on these families.
Dr Jennifer Kelly, Director and Founder of the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust said:
“This really is an unsettling and worrying time for everyone. Our local oncology families desperately need essential items and as they are under strict isolation there is no way of them getting these unless we can step in to support them.
We will continue to support these families for as long as we possibly can. If there is a local retailer or anyone who wishes to make a donation towards the charity providing these care packages then please do get in touch as every penny we can get towards these packs really does help us as currently we have very little income coming in so at some point we may find it hard to sustain doing this but for now we will do everything we can to support as many of our local oncology families as possible.
We are all in this together so this really is a time for us all to join together and support each other as much as we possibly can. We would also like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who have helped pack and deliver these packages, they really have helped us out”
