Fire Service staff recognised for their exceptional work at Herefordshire Medals & Awards Ceremony

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service staff have been honoured for their outstanding service and commitment to the fire service and members of the community recognised for special commendation awards at two awards ceremonies at Worcester Guild Hall and Hereford Town Hall.

The Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, Edward Harley CBE, and The Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Beatrice Grant, presented awards on behalf of His Majesty the King. The Chairman of the Fire Authority, Cllr Roger Phillips, presented Service awards for 20 and 30 years of service.

The High Sheriff of Worcestershire, Ian Smith, presented the High Sheriff’s Award to the top Fire Cadet from the Service, while the High Sheriff of Herefordshire, Helen Bowden, presented the High Sheriff’s Award to the top Community Volunteer.

The Chief Fire Officer presented the annual Silver Axe award to Firefighter Jacob Littleworth, awarded to the top On-Call Trainee Recruit.

Local businesses were also recognised, AMP Sheet Metal Work, ABT Products Ltd, The Community Housing Group and Fusion Creative Graphic Design Agency were each presented with a Chief Fire Officer’s Employer Award in recognition of their exceptional contribution in providing On-Call members of staff to HWFRS in support of their local community over many years.

These ceremonies highlighted the strength of partnership between HWFRS, its staff, volunteers, and employers all working together to protect lives and support communities.
