Excitement is building ahead of Worcestershire’s largest Careers event, the Worcestershire Skills Show on the 4 March 2020.
This year’s skills show returns to the Chateau Impney Hotel and Exhibition Venue, Droitwich Spa, with approximately 6,000 young people, employers and education providers from across the Midlands expected to attend.
The event provides young people with the chance to engage with local employers and training providers through a wide variety of exciting “have a go” activity-based stands. From augmented and virtual reality headsets, to programming code and flight simulators, the Skills Show strives to bring the world of work to life in an interactive way for students.
Over 100 organisations are set to exhibit at this year’s show and local businesses have the opportunity to get involved with future skills shows to help them address their recruitment issues and develop their future workforce.
For the first time ever, this year the Worcestershire Skills Show will have a companion mobile app for attendees to download. The new app will provide a breakdown of the activities taking place at the show and where to find them through an interactive Skills Maze map and provide helpful advice on what students and parents can do to make the most of their time at the show. The app will be free to download through the Apple and Google Play Store, search “Worcestershire Skills Show” after 24 February.
After the local schools have attended the show during the day, Parents and carers are being encouraged to come along to the show with their children during the Open Evening session from 3.30 until 7.00pm.
The Skills Show is delivered by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Worcestershire County Council, through The Careers & Enterprise Company’s national initiative. Businesses looking to pledge their support to help develop Worcestershire’s future workforce and be involved with future skills shows can contact the team by emailing [email protected].
