Ecrubox Digital completes a month of Good Deeds giving back to the local community while raising hundreds of pounds for the British Heart Foundation. In February, they will select their next charity to support and are currently looking for nominations of organisations to help “A Month of Good Deeds” was a campaign devised by global digital marketing agency, Ecrubox Digital , of Worcester. The campaign aimed to help those who felt overwhelmed or forgotten during these
challenging times. To kick off the year, Ecrubox announced that the agency completed its month-long campaign raising money for the British Heart Foundation and giving back to their local community during one of the most difficult winters for the vulnerable. In the past, Ecrubox Digital has chosen a charity to support their fundraising activities. Previously Ecrubox’s efforts have supported the Down’s Syndrome Association, and in 2020 they chose The British Heart Foundation. They did things a little differently in this campaign; in addition to raising money, they also wanted to support and give back to Worcester’s local community.
“A Month Of Good Deeds” received recognition from a variety of organisations as the Ecrubox team decided to include multiple deeds that could give back to the community and support other groups of individuals who were struggling to raise awareness and continue on due to lockdown restrictions and the effects of the pandemic. Deeds included food shopping and zoom classes for the elderly, donations and drop offs for animal shelters, care packages donated to women’s shelters, volunteering for charity based apps such as “Be My Sight” helping to read instructions for the blind and cooking meals for the vulnerable. Sebastian Horton, co-founder and operations manager at Ecrubox, shared that the decision to fund-raise for the BHF is a personal one. The 40-year-old, who lives in Pershore, needed surgery last year to repair one of his heart valves. Sebastian had been diagnosed with a heart murmur in his early 20s, before further tests in his 30s revealed that his mitral valve was leaking. He received regular check-ups and remained asymptomatic for years – but, 18 months ago, medics discovered that the leak had become severe. The dad-of-three required open-heart surgery at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire in June 2019 to repair the damaged valve. He has since made a full recovery.
He said: “This marked the first-ever major operation that I’ve had, and I couldn’t applaud the hospital more for the treatment I received. It is amazing that, thanks to surgery, I have potentially avoided severe complications down the road. This has meant that I’ve created more happy memories with my wife and three children. Knowing that the money we raise will help the BHF fund vital research into the human heart.” The month of good deeds has not only helped the local community, raised money for The British Heart Foundation, but it has also strengthened the overall team spirit at the agency. As a company, the employees were able to focus on those in need, be innovative in the way that they support in a socially distanced manner, and complete a challenge during one of the hardest times ever to raise money for charity.
They will continue to support the vulnerable and those in need with their chosen charity’s announcement
for 2021. Any suggestions or nominated charities should be sent directly to the agency.
