A podcast series focused on the stories of some of the Midlands’ globally successful small and medium-sized exporters has been launched by the Department for International Trade (DIT) and Midlands Engine.
Hear their advice on preparing your business for international success, navigating export challenges, and utilising the full support of the Department for International Trade services.
Each podcast will centre on the journey of a different Export Champion; a business with an inspirational approach to exporting, who is part of a nationwide campaign to encourage more businesses to grow internationally.
The podcast will be launching this week with speakers from:
- Bradbury’s Cheese – Relatively new to export, they’ve built up their overseas sales rapidly in the last five years. They now turnover £8.5 million throughout 32 markets across the world.
- Morningside Pharmaceuticals – From small start-up, to winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Export, Morningside are now established in markets across the world, including Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.
- Cambridge Weight Plan – Offering a unique mix of food and consulting service in 45 different markets, export now accounts for 20% of their annual turnover – approximately £12 million.
The new series offers businesses an unmissable chance to learn from the export narratives of thriving companies and discover the opportunities that await enterprising UK companies overseas.
Ian Harrison, DIT’s Head of Exports in The Midlands, said: “The new Midlands Export podcast series will showcase the success stories of our Export Champion community and empower local businesses to grow through exporting.
“By sharing their own experiences first-hand, these inspirational companies will encourage their peers to seek new sales opportunities and realise their overseas potential.
“There is no better time for Midlands businesses to start exporting, as latest figures reveal that the Midlands export nearly £56bn worth of goods annually.”
