Community Café & Dementia Support Group – Lyppard Hub

Community Café

A new Community Café launched in January at Lyppard Hub, the community centre in Warndon Villages.  The café is open on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and provides a friendly, welcoming environment for people to meet others in the community and enjoy a coffee.  The café project seeks to reach out to those who are socially isolated and help them connect with others; however the café is open to anyone and many people have come along to meet with friends, make new friends and get to know others.  The café is popular with parents and toddlers attending groups at the centre, as well as adults popping in for a coffee or staying on after a social or activity group at the Hub.  All are welcome to join the café, which serves drinks and cakes, 10am-12noon on Wednesdays and Thursdays during termtime.

Dementia Support Group

Lyppard Hub offers Tea & Support, a friendly dementia support group on Tuesdays, with a range of activities for people living with dementia and their carers.  The café style group provides a relaxed atmosphere for people to meet others, share experiences and find support.  There are regular activities including board games, table tennis and craft activities, as well as one off events such as quizzes, sing-along mornings, exercise sessions and fish and chip lunches.  The group will also be holding a cream tea event to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. The group provides much needed support for people living with dementia and their carers, and a place for people to find friendship, fun and laughter.
