Last Friday, our first ever socially distanced Golf Day took place. Our Annual Charity Golf Day usually means a warm summer’s day of socialising freely, some friendly competition and an evening meal. However, this year was evidently different, so we had to get our heads together and do some thinking.
We weren’t prepared to let the pandemic ruin our fundraising for our favourite charity – no way. Although, we also weren’t prepared to let our determination to support the cause compromise anyone’s safety. Due to the lockdown restrictions, we were forced to postpone our scheduled golf day to a later date. As restrictions eased and lockdown was lifted, we decided we’d hold a safe, socially distanced charity golf day before summer was over for good!
The day began with a breakfast of bacon butties, followed by the teams making their way to the golf course where each golfer gave it their best shot! Everybody very much enjoyed being out on the course, and thankfully the weather held up and flourished into a beautiful day for networking and golfing fun.
When all the swinging and putting was done and dusted, we moved on to the moment we’d all been waiting for… When the whispers of excitement had been hushed, the winners of the day were announced and the winning raffle tickets were chosen! Our three best golfers and crowned winners for the day were; Kevin Gowdy, Dave Formaston and Phil Price! The golfer who had the longest drive was also Dave Formaston, and the golfer who was nearest to the pin was Dave Conyers! Well done all…
A special mention must go to our raffle prize donors;
Haines Watts Worcester, Harrison Clark Rickerbys, Mount Pleasant Hotel, Auto K Garage, Bransford Golf Club, Dave Conyers and Don Kincaid.
We raised an impressive £500 from the event, and ISO QSL will be matching this to donate £1000 to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC), our company’s chosen charity.
Finally, we would like to thank all the golfers for their generosity and for helping us provide much needed support to the MAAC.
All in all, the day was a swinging success! We like to think that even though it was slightly different to our normal golf day, our plan to support this amazing charity amidst all the potential issues was a hole in one!
See you next year…
