The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the release of the 2026 Salary & Benefits Report in partnership with Hewett Recruitment. This report is the region’s most comprehensive benchmarking resource for pay, benefits, and workforce trends.
This year’s report comes at a time of economic uncertainty, with businesses balancing rising operational costs, inflationary pressures and evolving workforce expectations. Despite these challenges, 91% of organisations are recruiting for permanent roles, while 29% are turning to temporary placements to maintain flexibility. Hybrid working remains a strong feature, with 75% reporting no change to remote working and 22% increasing flexible hours.
Employee benefits continue to play a critical role in talent attraction and retention. Enhanced annual leave, wellbeing initiatives, and private healthcare are among the most valued perks, alongside flexible working arrangements. The report also highlights encouraging progress in Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, with more businesses embedding inclusive practices into their culture.
Technology is another key theme. The rapid adoption of AI is reshaping roles across sectors, streamlining processes while reinforcing the importance of human creativity and leadership.
Sharon Smith, Chief Executive of the Chamber, commented:
“This report provides clarity for employers navigating a complex labour market. By understanding pay, benefits, and workforce trends, businesses can make informed decisions that support growth and resilience.”
Laura Hewett, Owner/Director at Hewett Recruitment, added:
“This year’s findings reflect the cautious optimism we’re seeing across the region. While uncertainty persists, businesses are prioritising flexibility and wellbeing to retain talent and remain competitive. The rise of AI and evolving workforce expectations mean employers must adapt quickly, but those who embrace change and invest in their people will be best placed for success.”
