As we mark the end of National Apprenticeship Week, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the transformative power of apprenticeships — both for individuals and for businesses. Our patron member, The Development Manager (TDM), has been at the forefront of this movement, helping shape futures through meaningful learning and professional development.
Jess Gladston, Business Engagement & Marketing Lead. at TDM, shared her personal journey with apprenticeships, highlighting their lasting impact:
“As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, I’m incredibly proud to reflect on how my journey has come full circle. Apprenticeships aren’t just something I advocate for — they’re the very foundation of my career.
Having built my professional journey through two Apprenticeships, I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful they are in opening doors, building confidence, and shaping long‑term success. Those experiences didn’t just shape my path — they ignited a lifelong passion for championing the power of learning and re-learning.
Apprenticeships and retraining have never been more vital for employers and their workforces — helping organisations upskill, adapt, and stay resilient in an ever‑changing world. Now, as Marketing Manager at The Development Manager, I’m proud to work in an industry that transforms futures and businesses every single day, and to champion the Apprenticeships that once shaped mine.”
Jess also reflected on the broader impact of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week:
“Wow, what a week it has been. I’m incredibly proud of the engagements we’ve seen during this year’s National Apprenticeship Week. It’s a week we truly look forward to every year — a chance to celebrate the dedication, passion, progress and unwavering impact of apprentices nationwide. Watching employers, learners, and stakeholders from across the country come together, share their stories, and champion the power of apprenticeships is always inspiring. Their interactions remind us why we do what we do, and we couldn’t be more grateful to be part of such a vibrant, impactful community. Together we are doing well, by doing good.”
Through their commitment, TDM continues to demonstrate that apprenticeships are more than just a pathway to employment — they’re a catalyst for empowerment, growth, and lasting change. Jess’s story is a testament to the profound difference apprenticeships can make, inspiring others to embrace learning, development, and opportunity at every stage of their careers.
