A Worcestershire winter maintenance and snow clearance company has been shortlisted for an environmental award just as it celebrates becoming carbon neutral.
AA Salt, which helps hundreds of businesses and venues keep their premises safe by gritting and snow ploughing their car parks, has been shortlisted in the Environmental and Sustainability category at the 2022 FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards.
The company, which this year is marking its 20th anniversary, is widely respected for its green credentials and in February became carbon neutral – eight years ahead of their 2030 target.
Through its environmental programme, the family firm runs a tree planting initiative with local schools and is a long-term supporter of a community cookstove project in Africa which has been a major contributor to its carbon reduction. It’s operational base also boasts rainwater harvesting and solar panel technology and they use an innovative app-based route optimisation system which has resulted in reduced fuel consumption.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 17 March at the Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club in Warwickshire.
Last year the company was shortlisted for a Sustainability award by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce. In 2019, AA Salt was voted Family Business of the Year by the Chamber.
