Automotive Transformation Fund is now open for applications

UK registered businesses can apply for a share of up to £1 billion for R&D and capital projects that help industrialise the electrified automotive supply chain at scale in the UK. Innovate UK are the funding body. The maximum value is discretionary with an application deadline of Wednesday 8 August 2020.

This Automotive Transformation Fund competition is formally delivered in partnership between the Advanced Propulsion Centre(APC), Innovate UK, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Department for International Trade (DIT).

The Automotive Transformation Fund (ATF) aims to establish and support industrialisation of a high-value, competitive and sustainable electrified automotive supply chain in the UK. The programme offers funding for both industrial research and capital projects.

This is an expression of interest (EoI) competition. If an application is successful, applicants will be invited to apply to one of the full stage competition strands:

  • Research and development (R&D).
  • Capital investment.

If a project includes both R&D and capital investment, applicants will have to apply for both full stage competitions.

For R&D projects, IUK will deliver the competition process, technical assessment framework and contracting.

Capital projects will be managed through the Automotive Transformation Fund capex team and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Who can apply?

This competition is open to single applicants and collaborations. To lead a project or work alone, the organisation must be a UK registeredbusinessof any size, carrying out its project work in the UK. To collaborate with the lead organisation, the applicant must be a UK registered business, academic institution, charity, public sector organisation or RTO.

There are no restrictions on the number of applications a business or RTO can submit.
