Businesses are being challenged to get creative and turn £50 into a much bigger donation for St Richard’s Hospice.
The hospice is calling for 20 organisations to sign-up to its 2020 Business Challenge, with the collective aim of raising more than £20,000. Each team to sign up will be given £50 and will be tasked with growing it into much more. At the end of the challenge, participants will be invited to a special awards dinner where the final total will be announced and prizes awarded.
Ria Simons, fundraiser at St Richard’s, said: “This is our first challenge of this kind and we are excited to work with a variety of organisations. There is a world of possibilities for fundraising – from holding a bake sale, to taking on a skydive, it’s totally up to the teams taking part!
“We think it’s a great opportunity to get colleagues together, working towards raising money for our care – while having fun and networking with other businesses involved at the same time. £20,000 is a huge amount and would make such an important difference to the lives of those we care for and their loved ones.”
Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce is the overall sponsor for this fantastic charity event. Sharon Smith, Chief Executive of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said: “I’m delighted that the Chamber is the overall sponsor for St Richard’s Hospice’s 2020 Business Challenge.
“Following the success of last year’s Worcester Stands Tall campaign, which saw the county work together to make the initiative a huge triumph, we are thrilled to once again support the hospice. I’d like to encourage local firms to become one of 20 businesses who will be set the challenge of raising a combined total of £20,000 based on a ‘grow your £’ concept.”
Kevin Gates, Managing Director at Neoperl UK, said: “Neoperl is pleased to be supporting the St Richard’s Hospice 2020 challenge. Having celebrated our own 20th anniversary this year, it will be a fantastic opportunity to support such a worthwhile cause early in 2020. We are really excited by the challenge, the friendly rivalry, and raising as much money as we can.”
Other businesses already involved include Handlesbanken, The Kiln, Slimming World Worcestershire, CMCA UK, Shrubbery Dental and DHL Droitwich.
