LOCAL CHARITY TAKES ON WELSH THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE TO MARK 40 YEARS OF SUPPORTING SURVIVORS

A team from West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC) will take on the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge this May to raise funds for survivors of sexual violence across Worcestershire and the wider West Mercia region.

On 2 May 2026, staff will climb Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan within 24 hours, covering over 17 miles and 2,330 metres of ascent. The challenge forms part of the charity’s 40th anniversary and highlights both the endurance of participants and the resilience of the people they support.

The initiative aims to raise awareness and ensure that specialist, trauma-informed services remain accessible. WMRSASC emphasises that the challenge is not just about reaching summits, but about standing alongside survivors and recognising the strength required to seek help and rebuild their lives.

Funds raised will directly support services including counselling, early intervention and prevention work. These services enable survivors to access timely, expert care and begin recovery in a safe environment.

WMRSASC provides free support across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire, offering one-to-one counselling and programmes for adults, children and young people. The organisation helps individuals process trauma, rebuild confidence and move forward.

The charity is encouraging individuals, businesses and local communities to get involved by donating, sharing the campaign or supporting the team during the challenge. Every contribution helps sustain vital services and ensures survivors continue to have access to support both now and in the future.
