RADIX FILM CLUB: KIM’S VIDEO (18)
Kim’s Video, an iconic video store in New York City, mysteriously closed its doors and sent its legendary film archive to a Sicilian village for “safekeeping.” But what starts as an homage to cinema quickly becomes a rescue mission to ensure the eternal preservation of the beloved video collection. For May’s RADIX screening we’ll be talking all about our memories of rental stores and what our first ever rentals were. We’ll also have a Mystery Video Swap Box so you can drop off and pick up new DVDs, Blu Rays and VHSs that your fellow audience members have brought! As always you can get 10% off drinks after the screening in our Cafe Bar!

When the local nursing home finds itself in dire straits and in danger of falling to pieces, it’s down to Mother Veronique (Valérie Bonneton) and the eccentric sisters of the convent of St. Benedict to find a way to help.
Spotting a poster for a bike race with a €25,000 cash prize (and the incentive of a trip to the Vatican for the winner!), the sisters might just have their answer. The only drawbacks are that they are terrible cyclists, and their rival convent, led by Mother Veronique’s childhood nemesis Mother Josephine (Sidse Babett Knudsen), have their own plans for the prize money – and just a little more experience… In French with English subtitles

Buenos Aires, 1976: Tom begins a teaching job at an elite English boarding school. But Argentina is fraught with political violence and the military coup d’état interrupts teaching. On a weekend trip, Tom encounters a penguin drenched in oil and rescues it against his better judgment. In doing so, he unlocks its undying loyalty and, sneaking the flightless bird back to Argentina, begins a singular friendship that sees the penguin become an unwitting agent of change for the whole school.
