Whatever the nature of the project the same rules apply.

A Project Manager will be required to keep a number of plates spinning throughout the life of the project, and deliver an outcome in line with the objectives and expectations of the people who initiated the project in the first place.

This course aims to develop your skills as a Project Manager, deciding on the objectives, building the team, analysing the information available and developing the ideas to deliver the project.

Course Objectives
By the end of this course delegates will be able to:
• Understand the project, its scale, scope and context
• Manage the project team and an how it works as a team
• Better control the time management with planning tools to support the timely delivery
• Appreciate how to risk assess the project’s implementation
• Understand project control requirements
• Improve the project communication and sharing project status
• Understand the benefit of reviewing and evaluating the project

The course will cover the following areas:
• Being a Project Manager – what makes a good Project Manager and what skills are vital to successful outcomes.
• The Project Management Cycle – A look at the stages of project management, this session sets the scene, for the process side of Projects.
• Communication – creating a communication plan, ensuring ‘everyone is in the loop’ – planning how the project goes live. Scoping the Project – meeting with the sponsor: understanding the goals, knowing what you want to achieve. Knowing the limits of the project and the framework you must work with
• The Planning Cycle – understanding the stages of planning, the basic tools and techniques –useful aids to successful planning such as Critical Paths, Time Estimates etc.
• Getting the right people for Project Teams – looking at the people in the team, using Edward De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats
• Implementing the Project – Project Tracking, risk analysis and contingency planning
• Dealing with Barriers – people and problems, this session is about the management part of project management, dealing with lack of commitment to the project, working through the barriers, resolving problems and making decisions
• Implementation and Deployment of the Project
• Evaluating the Project Outcome – at the end of the project agreeing the process of evaluation and assessments of the project’s success against the original goals and outcomes agrees.
