The training and education of nursing associates at the University of Worcester has been recognised with a shortlisting in this year’s Student Nursing Times Awards.
The University is in the running for the prestigious Nursing Associate Training Programme Provider of the Year award.
The University began its Nursing Associate course in 2018, and has grown every year, with more than 200 students now having successfully completed the course.
Nursing associates were introduced to bridge the gap between healthcare support workers and registered nurses and are fast becoming an established and growing part of the workforce.
The Student Nursing Times Award recognises excellence among higher education institutions that inspire and nurture the development of their student nursing associates while they complete their studies.
Professor Sally Moyle, Pro Vice Chancellor, Health and Science at the University, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have our nursing associate course nominated for this award. This shortlisting recognises the dedication and hard work of our colleagues, and their commitment to delivering the best possible programme for our students.”
She continued: “The University has earned a reputation as being one of the best educators of healthcare professionals in the country, and I’m delighted to see this being recognised.”
The most recent National Student Survey reflected the satisfaction and appreciation of the teaching and support on the programme, with the University scoring 100% on 11 of the categories including staff teaching, being challenged to achieve their best work, and assessment & feedback.
Professor Moyle said: “Healthcare students of all disciplines go on from Worcester to have a huge impact on all areas of the NHS, and so it’s vital that while they’re training with us they get the very best in terms of facilities and support from their lecturers.”
The University is soon to open the Duke’s Building, an exciting new learning environment at its Severn Campus, where student nursing associates will learn in a modern, well-equipped building alongside other health students.
