Minster Micro acquires Software Licences and IP of Darklake Developments

A Worcestershire IT firm has acquired the software licences and technology of a former Devon-based business software provider.

Kidderminster-based Minster Micro Computers has completed a deal to take over the intellectual property and bespoke software licences of Exeter firm, Darklake Developments, following the retirement of its owner.

The deal, which also sees the former company’s two software developers joining Minster Micro’s existing development team, will mean Minster is now able to offer its clients even more bespoke features and enhancements for Pegasus Opera and Sage 50 accounting along with business software packages.

Susan Marlow, managing director of Minster Micro said: “We have had a strong and successful connection with the team at Darklake Developments for many years.

“They were renowned for their expertise in providing bespoke IT solutions for key business software which allowed companies to run more efficiently, including additions and enhancements to payroll and HR systems, stock control and order entry solutions, plus data import and export programs.

“To have that technology and licences within the Minster portfolio going forward is ideal for us, as it adds a further dimension for our clients, many of whom are already seeing the early benefits.

“It’s the perfect way to start the financial year and the new staff members are settling in well, whilst nearly doubling our development capacity. It’s already giving us further opportunities both regionally and on a national scale.”

Minster Micro has more than 40 years’ experience of supporting a range of businesses and sectors. The company is a recognised cyber security specialist and also offers a full suite of IT support services for SMEs and larger organisations.  It also supplies business management, manufacturing, CRM, payroll and HR software, training and implementation.
