It’s been a busy start to the year for the Friends of St John’s who are raising funds for urgent repairs to the spire at Bromsgrove’s landmark, Grade I listed, building.
In January, the project was awarded a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £249,975. With monies received from Bromsgrove Rotary, Laslett’s Charities, individual donation and events including a Business Lunch with Sir Sajid Javid and Open Day, the total raised stands at £306,000, towards the £360,000 Spire Appeal target.
The appeal aims to rebuild the top 2.25m of the spire where the solid stonework has cracked due to rusting of the encased iron stabilising rod. The capital work is hoped to commence and be completed before another perilous winter.
We’d welcome support from fellow H&W Chamber Members. Find out more and get in touch via www.stjohnsfriends.co.uk or make a donation at www.justgiving.com/campaign/stjohns-spire to help reach the target.
