Sinclair Day sponsor competitor in World Dragon Boat Racing Championships

Sinclair Day Accountancy Ltd in Worcester were very pleased to sponsor Gwion Humphreys who took part in the 16th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships recently. Gwion and the rest of his GB crew were among 15 teams racing against each other at The Royal Thai Navy Rowing and
Canoeing Association in Thailand.

The Olympic Standard venue has six lanes, with racing taking place over 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 meters. Dragon boat racing is one of the fastest growing and most popular sports in the world and in
the UK an estimated 41,000 people and over 850 crews take part in events throughout the summer months.

Sinclair Day’s co-owners Andy and Sam met through Dragon Boat Racing way back in 1992 so the sport is close to their hearts. ‘Although we hung up our paddles some time ago, we were delighted to support Gwion with his challenge.’ says Sam ‘As amateur athletes each member of the crew has to be sponsored as competitors have to raise about £7,000 to cover their travel costs and other expenses.’

Gwion, who is the Lead Trainer and Owner of Worcester First Aid, says ‘The support from Sam and Andrew was invaluable, financially and otherwise, and it was great to discover their dragon boat romance: I had no idea! Representing your country at the sport that you love is a great honour. We paddled our hearts out, didn’t medal but came 4th in the 200 and 500m senior races. something to be proud of and build on for the next World Championship in Germany 2025′
