Hundreds are set to take part in RUN Hereford later this Spring, with entrants choosing from circular Half Marathon, 10K or 5K courses.
Event organisers St Michael’s Hospice say they hope the event, on Sunday 14th May, will raise thousands of pounds – and awareness – for the Bartestree-based charity which provides palliative and end-of-life care to families across Herefordshire and beyond.
Many RUN entrants fundraise for St Michael’s, providing a big help to the charity which relies on community support to fund the majority of its care costs.
“RUN Hereford is a long-established favourite in our Events calendar, and it’s wonderful to see so much interest in this year’s edition,” said Rachel Jones, the Hospice’s Income Generation, Marketing and Communications Director.
“The good news is there’s still time to enter and prepare for what should be a great day of fun and fundraising.
“Taking part in RUN really does help St Michael’s Hospice. The money collected through fundraising and entry fees goes straight back into the quality, free-of-charge care we provide in our Inpatient Unit in Bartestree, through our Day Services, and in people’s homes through the Hospice at Home service.
“It also goes towards our supportive care services which includes complementary therapies, and bereavement support.”
Those taking part in RUN will receive a Finish Line medal, post-race massage – subject to availability – and a small gift.
Each route will be marshalled and feature water stations. The Half Marathon and 10K routes will be on partially closed roads. The 5K route will be on a fully closed course.
Hereford Contract Canning (HCC) has renewed its support of St Michael’s by sponsoring RUN Hereford again in 2023.
