The Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Worcestershire County Council are pleased to confirm the new Green Skills Week programme which will be delivered from Monday 6 to Friday 10 December.
Following on from the COP26 conference and the growing need to create a sustainable world for the future, the Worcestershire LEP and County Council have built the Green Skills Week programme working closely with the county’s schools and colleges to inspire young people about the green skills they will need in the future.
The week long programme will feature a plethora of activity from roundtable discussions with key local businesses to downloadable resources and online videos which will help to bring the new green skills and careers needed to reach Net Zero Carbon Emissions to life.
All activity as part of the Green Skills Week will be made available online through dedicated resource pages on the LEP and County Council websites.
Alongside the Green Skills Week activity, schools, businesses and residents are being made aware of how they can support the Queen’s Green Canopy(QGC) project. This project aims to help plant trees to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.
As well as inviting the planting of new trees, The Queen’s Green Canopy will dedicate a network of 70 Ancient Woodlands across the United Kingdom and identify 70 Ancient Trees to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years of service.
