Surviving Winter 2021/2022 call for donations

The Herefordshire Community Foundation has launched its Surviving Winter campaign for 2021/2022.  The Surviving Winter Fund distributes money to help people living in Herefordshire in fuel poverty to stay warm, eat well and remain mobile.

The Government’s winter fuel allowance payments are made in November and December to all pensioners across the UK. It is not means tested or divertible. If you don’t need your winter fuel allowance you can donate it or any amount of your choice, to the Herefordshire Community Foundation and it will help those less fortunate. Last year the foundation was able to help 28 vulnerable households with their fuel costs – specifically the elderly, the disabled and disadvantaged families with young children. With fuel prices at their peak and lots of households experiencing financial insecurity, this winter will be particularly difficult for some families and individuals.

A Surviving Winter grant recipient said:

“What the Herefordshire Community Foundation has done for me is so much more than provide me with heating, you have made me feel that I matter and that is priceless.”
