Selcraft’s enamel jewellery is a work of art

Since being founded 48 years ago Selcraft – medallists, insignia and badge-makers – has been privileged to both design and produce many exceptional pieces, perhaps even “works of art”. Their designs can be found both at home and abroad, as they export their commissions to countries ranging from Oman to Gibralter and UAE to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.

A recent special commission exemplifies Selcraft’s design and skillset for a one-off jewellery brooch of the highest quality as can be viewed on the collage of images for the “story-board”:

  1. commencing with the client’s idea
  2. Selcraft’s design concept
  3. followed by the colour visualisation
  4. culminating in the finished product

In this instance, 9ct yellow gold was the material used throughout; the piece is designed in 2 parts (flag and crest), and is both weighty and substantial at 45mm width.

Real vitreous enamel was used throughout which ensures longevity as pieces such as this are the heirlooms of the future. Authenticity and provenance is provided via the UK hallmark on the reverse which independently confirms the metal purity and year of manufacture A real diamond is set centrally within the crest for additional value and embellishment. The reverse is further personalised with a sentimental inscription engraved by hand and has a safety brooch fixing and additional 9ct safety chain for added security when worn.

Carl Huxley, Director, says:

“A piece like this employs many exceptional skills by time served artisans. Selcraft is in the field of jewellery manufacture in precious metals, and especially so, as it is a one-off work of art, with no margin for error!”
