A coworking space in Worcester has re-opened its doors to provide local tech and creative entrepreneurs, remote workers and small businesses with a place to collaborate and grow. Following the easing of lockdown rules, The Kiln at the Old Police Station on Copenhagen Street, will once again provide hot desking, meeting rooms and business packages to support local businesses and individuals who want a change to working from home or no longer require permanent office space.
Designed as a collaborative community to bring like minded people together to share ideas, The Kiln has further enhanced its offering to meet the changing needs of local businesses. From May, in addition to weekday access, The Kiln members will be able to use the co-working space on Saturdays, to accommodate flexible working. For businesses that have given up their permanent office space during lockdown, The Kiln offers fixed desks, hot desks and meeting rooms at one-off or monthly rates.
One such business that has benefitted from the re-opened coworking space is Hewett Recruitment. The Worcestershire based recruitment agency closed its Worcester office during the first national lockdown, retaining their head office space in Kidderminster and allowing their Worcester team to work from home. To support their home workers and continue collaborative working, they have purchased a Kiln Membership, which enables their team to make use of the facilities and work together several times a week.
Ben Mannion, Director at Hewett Recruitment, said:
“We realised during lockdown last year that we no longer needed the expense of a huge office space, but wanted to enable our team to continue working together. The Kiln has provided the perfect alternative and we are really happy with the set up.”
Alex Brookes, The Kiln Centre Manager, said:
“During lockdown many businesses have had to adapt the way they work, meetings have become virtual and hours flexible. At The Kiln we provide the perfect solution for remote workers looking for a collaborative and inspiring space to spend their work hours, or for local businesses to host their weekly face-to-face meetings.
For start-up businesses that have launched over the last year and who need a place to call home, we offer fixed desks from just £250 per month including unlimited tea and coffee and super-fast wifi. We can also provide a business address for those who want a professional building to direct their work-related post to.”
Founded by Greg Smith and Hamish Gill of visual identity agency, F8 Creates, The Kiln is the first of its kind in Worcester. The modern and practical space provides free, super-fast Wi-Fi, hot desking for more than sixty people and a range of different sized meeting rooms to hire from just £10 per hour.
