A Worcestershire psychologist’s pursuit of finding the perfect qualities for leadership has led to him producing a new, five-star guide.
Dr Tony Fusco returned to higher education when he was 35 years old to complete a master’s degree in organisational psychology.
Now, 20 years on and having achieved a Doctorate, Tony has used his extensive and peer-reviewed research as the foundations for The A to Z of Authentic Leadership.
Not only has the authoritative examination of leadership strategies reached number two in Amazon’s business charts, but it has also received a string of five-star reviews from critics.
Chartered psychologist Tony, who is an in-demand leadership development coach, said: “The A to Z of Authentic Leadership stemmed from six years of Doctoral research into authentic leadership development.
“During this time, I read extensively around the subject of authenticity and authentic leadership.
“This is reflected in the book as it covers a breadth of issues relating to the topic both directly and indirectly.
“The A to Z of Authentic Leadership is a journey around the concept of both personal and leadership authenticity, through the ideas and examples of various psychologists, philosophers, political figures and business leaders.
“It explores how a variety of individuals and ideas illustrate what authentic leadership is and isn’t.”
Tony’s alphabetic guide probes the ideas of philosophers and psychologists such as influential Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl, cultural critic Friedrich Nietzsche, and Danish intellect Soren Kierkegaard.
He also explores the borderline psychosis of Adolf Hitler, the malignant psychopathy of Donald Trump, and the insistence on truth by Mahatma Gandhi.
But in demonstrating the four main leadership temperaments Tony uses Elon Musk, Henry Ford, Kofi Annan and Red Adair as case studies.
Tony, who lives in Great Malvern, added: “The message that The A to Z of Authentic Leadership contains is that the idea of authentic leadership is a lot more complex than many contemporary business writers suggest.
“It is not really something that can be thoughtfully considered without exploring some of the great psychologists and philosophers who have been debating authenticity for eons.”
Tony’s 26 bite-sized chapters which make up The A to Z of Authentic Leadership have been met with glowing reviews from readers.
The A to Z of Authentic Leadership has been described by reviewers as ‘a zesty, refreshing change from the typical leadership qualities biography or textbook’, ‘informative and fascinating’, and ‘a colourful palette of characters and approaches to leadership’.
Tony is currently working on a second volume of his research into authentic leadership, which is due to be published later this year.
