Pensons Wine Cellar – A virtual journey of wine discovery in your own home

Pensons, Michelin-Star restaurant, situated on the Worcestershire-Herefordshire border, is embracing a new approach to wine tasting via a series of virtual wine tasting events courtesy of their General Manager & Sommelier, Jim Conway, beginning on 5th February.

Wine online

This will offer both wine aficionados and those new to the wine world an opportunity to taste and learn more about wine selection and food pairings. Delivered via a number of video tastings Pensons Wine Cellar will take you on a  journey of discovery showcasing a curated selection of some of the most acclaimed, exciting and interesting wines from different regions to explore under Jim’s expert and entertaining guidance.

Explore a wide repertoire of world wines

When Pensons is open, guests enjoy the experience of the paired wine flight to complement the dishes on the tasting menu, or the opportunity to select wine choices themselves from Pensons’ diverse and evolving wine list. This includes classic wines from iconic wineries as well as some more unusual vineyards and biodynamic and organic wines, all of which have been chosen by Jim to accompany the flavours in Head Chef, Chris Simpson’s seasonal dishes.

Jim Conway, Pensons General Manager & Sommerlier, comments;

“With the lockdown period in place, we really wanted to find a way to bring our planned Wine Tasting events to our guests and the idea of Pensons Virtual Wine Cellar was born. Our first online event will bring together a collection of exceptional Italian wines and I’m really excited about sharing my experience and tips via a virtual tasting.”

A journey of discovery

Pensons Wine Cellar ‘s first on-line event, The Kings of Italy, is available  from Friday 5th February and this can be enjoyed at a later date in your own time or virtually with friends.  The wine selections are sent out in advance along with a suggestion of simple food pairings to enhance the flavours and notes of the wines during tasting.
