Bromsgrove based company Penguin Supplies Ltd, is delighted to have donated £570 to four local charities with their ‘Penguin’s Presents’ campaign in the run up to Christmas. Rather than giving corporate gifts this year, Penguin have donated to the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, NewStarts, Edward’s Trust and Birmingham Dogs Home.
The coronavirus pandemic has had a dramatic impact on all charities with many fundraising events being cancelled due to restrictions. A welcomed donation from the ‘Penguin’s Present’s campaign is aimed to give much needed support to the most vulnerable in our community, with funds that would normally be use for corporate ‘thank you’ presents. Starting with a £100 donation to the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust on their Christmas Jumper Day, £270 in food donations to NewStarts from a running challenge, and then £100 in food vouchers to bereavement support charity Edward’s Trust. The final donation was made this week to Birmingham Dogs Home which is full to capacity, with £100 worth of dog treats.
Chris Hopkinson, Director at Penguin Supplies Ltd explains, “It goes without saying that this year has had a huge impact on all corners of society but charities have really felt the strain. Normally this time of year I would be visiting customers and suppliers with Christmas gifts but due to restrictions this was going to prove difficult and we wanted to keep our contacts safe too with social distancing”.
Chris adds, “That’s when we came up with the idea of ‘Penguin’s Presents’. It’s still a way of saying ‘thank you’ but donating to some local charities which are very close to our hearts instead. It’s the time for giving and I’ve been overwhelmed by the gratitude of each of the charities.”
