Acorns FREE Will Writing Scheme Offers Peace of Mind in Uncertain Times

October is Make a Will Month at Acorns Children’s Hospice and the charity has partnered with selected law firms across Worcestershire and the West Midlands to offer a free Will writing service. Lindsay Mottram, Legacy and In Memory Manager at Acorns, explains why it’s more important than ever that people make their wishes known.

Making a Will is one of those things many people put off. While the idea might seem daunting, it’s the only way to ensure your wishes are known should the worst happen.
According to national statistics, around 54% of adults don’t have a Will and over half of those haven’t written a Will because they can’t find the time or they have simply ‘not got around to it yet’. So, if it’s something you’ve been delaying, you’re not alone. Having a professionally drawn up Will is an important way to protect your family and your loved ones. With coronavirus dominating our lives, things have never been more uncertain. No one knows what the future will bring. Having a Will gives you the peace of mind knowing that your wishes are known and respected. In fact, the Law Society has reported a 30% increase on the usual number of requests to create a Will since March.
But there are many reasons to consider writing a Will. You may have children, concerns about inheritance tax, your circumstance may have changed, you have specific funeral wishes or you may not be married to your partner. Whatever your motivation, a legally-binding Will tells everyone what should happen to your money, possessions and property after you die and offers a range of valuable protections.Acorns Make a Will Month is not only the perfect way to plan for the future now, but by joining the scheme you can also help local children and families by making a voluntary donation towards our vital children’s hospice care.
