When Selcraft’s existing client called us to chat about their latest project, the team took great pleasure in designing this badge. Carl Huxley and co listened and understood the need, using the information supplied by their client, which they then converted into a format for reproduction as a metal hat badge.
As is usual for the team, Selcraft submitted artwork visuals – showcasing how the badge would appear – for their client’s approval: they ask for approval or comment as they may need to adjust the details accordingly to ensure the badge is a total success for their client. In addition, they also submitted an actual pre-production sample, as the ultimate failsafe, and upon receipt of this, their client requested the badge to be larger as seen in the photos.
The method of production begins with using copper alloy material and die-stamping the design in male and female moulds: the advantage of this process is it both achieves depth and lightness in weight, otherwise a badge of this size may be too heavy when worn on the headdress.
To compliment the design, the badges were electroplated with an antique effect nickel resulting in an attractive and decorative appearance.
Feedback from Selcraft’s client included:
“Our badges all arrived safely and I am delighted with them. So glad we went to the extra effort to make them bigger, they look fantastic. Thanks for your help with this.”
