New chapter for Headway Worcestershire as the charity appoints Director

The trustees of Headway Worcestershire, a charity which has been supporting survivors of acquired brain injury across the county since 1989, have appointed Mandie Fitzgerald to be the new Director with immediate effect.

An accomplished fundraiser and marketer, Mandie brings a wealth of experience to the role which she has amassed over her years of successful work within the charity sector. She joined Headway Worcestershire in 2017 as Fundraising and Marketing Manager and has since focussed her efforts on strengthening the charity’s financial position, by attaining donations and grants which have safeguarded the charity and secured its future amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Malcolm Scott, Chair of Headway Worcestershire’s Trustees said:

“We are delighted to appoint Mandie to the role of Director of Headway Worcestershire. She has advanced the charity’s reputation and support in the local community to no end since joining three years ago, and we are sure that she will develop the work of the charity further in this post. These are very tough times, but we are confident in Mandie’s resolve to put Headway Worcestershire in good stead against any future difficulties.”

The charity has faced many challenges whilst celebrating its 30th anniversary over the last year, having suffered a burglary in December 2019 and then having to close its three Wellbeing Centres across Worcestershire due to the lockdown. The team quickly adjusted their services to support the most vulnerable people in the community on a one to one basis, to ensure their health and wellbeing during these uncertain times.

Of her appointment, Mandie said: ‘’I am assured about the future of Headway Worcestershire and the incredible support we provide across the county as we strive to ensure our amazing clients can achieve independent, purposeful and contented lives within our community.

I am so very proud of our charity, the commitment and passion of our supporters, staff and volunteers gives me confidence that anything is possible.  In these ever changing times we have to be creative in our thought processes to equip our charity with the tools to ensure a strong and successful future for the next thirty years.’’
