When the pandemic hit, like many others, Mushroom quickly sought to help where they could.
For the community, they setup and maintained phone lines for more than 90 Mutual Aid and voluntary community groups across the UK, giving them free access to enterprise-level telephony that has enabled them to connect directly with vulnerable and elderly residents in their locality and provide valuable support such as groceries, medication and other critical deliveries. Over 2,000 calls were made to the phone lines in the first week of April, equating to more than 94 hours of talk time. They’ve received very positive comments for their efforts on Trust Pilot.
They also provided a free WhatsApp alert service covering the latest schemes & rules which is still available and can be found here.
Mushroom continue to support many community groups who are remaining active.
For their client base, Mushroom provided free online consultations to help companies formulate a business ‘battle-plan’, taking a 360-degree view of their business and operations and advising on available options in respect of the government schemes, HR mitigation planning, risk, insurance, operations and financial strategy. They also supported many clients with their CBILS loan and business grant applications and worked on a 1-to-1 basis to help them stay cash positive and maintain continuity. In the latter stages of lockdown Mushroom have been helping companies ensure they have COVID-19 Secure workplaces and providing support to help reintroduce staff to the workplace in the right way.
Those requiring a starting-point for their risk assessments or staff planning can find free resources provided at the links above.
Simon Robinson, Commercial Services Manager at Mushroom, says: “I feel very proud at the efforts made throughout Mushroom to support our client base and the community at large, and to be part of an organisation that cares enough to play their part. I’d like to pay tribute to the whole Mushroom team, who have all contributed in a multitude of ways, and also to the phenomenal work done in neighbourhoods up and down the country by the thousands of volunteers using our phone service to help the vulnerable members of their community – we’re enormously grateful to you all.”
