Bloomery is an independent floristry studio and cutting garden based on the Farncombe Estate, just outside of Broadway.
With weddings and events postponed, workshops cancelled and the hotels on the estate closed, the past few months haven’t been easy. They decided to use the time productively and consider the longer term goals for the business. The company have always had the aim of creating cutting gardens at the studio for guests attending workshops to use, so lockdown was a good opportunity to build these while business was quiet.
Bloomery has also launched a local bouquet service with free delivery, buying flowers from local growers who would normally be supplying weddings, so people are supporting two local independent businesses by buying from them. For customers who would like fresh flowers for the weekend, they have introduced ‘Flower Fix Fridays’ where customers can come and collect pre-ordered bouquets from The Potting Shed each Friday. This has enabled them to hit a lower price point than the occasion bouquets as customers collect and the bouquets are wrapped in simple tissue rather than in the vase and gift bag the bouquets are usually delivered in.
Bloomery has diversified the business over the past few months and given themselves their own source of flowers, so they’re looking forwards to workshop attendees returning to The Potting Shed and seeing the changes they’ve made.
