Code of Practice for commercial property relationships during the COVID-19 pandemic

The government has produced a Code of Practice is published in response to the impacts of COVID-19 on landlords and tenants in the commercial property sector and covers the whole of the UK.

It is intended to reinforce and promote good practice amongst landlord and tenant relationships as they deal with income shocks caused by the pandemic. This is a voluntary code and does not change the underlying legal relationship or lease contracts between landlord and tenant and any guarantor.

The British Chambers of Commerce are signatory of this code and took part in the code’s steering group.
