First and foremost, we hope you are well and coping during these very difficult times.
Our dedicated team at Sight Concern (all working remotely) are busy making welfare phone calls, helping people to access information and support and setting up new telephone befriending for the most isolated people with sight loss.
But we need your help…..
You probably know that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on charities – thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled, resulting in huge loss of crucial income.
In response, the organisers of the biggest mass-participation event in the country have come together to create a new campaign to raise vital funds – and Sight Concern Worcestershire are part of it.
So, we’re inviting you, your friends and family to take part in The 2.6 Challenge.
The 2.6 Challenge will launch on Sunday 26th April – what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one-day annual fundraising event.
We’re asking you to take part in an activity of your choice based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 and fundraise for (or donate to) Sight Concern Worcestershire via the information further down this email.
People of all ages will be taking part in fun events such as walking, running or cycling for 2.6 miles, juggling for 2.6 minutes, or holding an online workout with 26 friends.
The only requirement is that you follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.
Most people will take part on Sunday 26th April – but you can do your challenge whenever is most convenient to you.
There are four simple steps:
- Dream up your challenge
- Ask family and friends to sponsor you or challenge them to do their own challenge
- Complete your challenge
- Share your stories with us on Twitter @sightconcern, or via #TwoPointSixChallenge or on Facebook com/sightconcernworcestershire/
Follow these instructions to make your 2.6 Challenge donation or set up your fundraising page for Sight Concern:
- Click on the link https://www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk/
- Click on the Fundraise Now button
- Click on the Virgin Money Giving button
- To make a donation, click on the Donate Now button, put Sight Concern Worcestershire into the search box and follow the instructions
- To set up a fundraising page, click on the Start Fundraising button, select the 2.6 challenge event, put Sight Concern Worcestershire into the search box and follow the instructions
