60-Year-Old Worcestershire Businesswoman Tackles UK’s Business Isolation Crisis with Disco Ball Networking

Award-winning LinkedIn trainer and business coach Esther Partridge-Warner has launched Sparkle Squad Networking, a fresh and practical solution to combat the UK’s growing epidemic of loneliness among freelancers and small business owners.

New research shows 90% of UK freelancers feel isolated, while over half of small business owners report poor mental health each year. Women are hit hardest, with 86% of female entrepreneurs affected. With only 6% of freelancers feeling supported by the government, Partridge-Warner knew something had to change.

Based at Vinegar Works in Worcester, the former Worcestershire Businesswoman of the Year created Sparkle Squad for those who find traditional networking outdated or unhelpful. “When 73% of business owners feel lonely and 45% of freelancers say their mental health has declined in just a year, we have to act,” she says.
Her free WhatsApp group offers daily goal-setting prompts and connection opportunities, while in-person events like the recent Sparkle Squad Soiree raised funds for charity and fostered meaningful business bonds.

Her standout strategy? The disco ball. “Each mirrored tile represents a micro-skill. Alone, they’re small, but together, they shine,” she explains.
Targeting women and those disillusioned by standard networking, Partridge-Warner’s mission is deeply personal. “I’ve run businesses that failed and succeeded. I want to help others grow businesses on their terms, with support and understanding.”

She adds: “When we come together as business owners, we don’t just connect, we elevate.”
