Well, it’s been 6 months since we walked away from the Herefordshire Means Business Awards with not one, but two trophies – Professional Services Business of the Year and Overall Achievement.
It’s safe to say we didn’t expect to win anything at all that evening. So when our name was called out the first time, it took a few moments to sink in. Then, when it was called out a second time, we’d already snuck out to get in our taxi… classic rookie move. Turns out we’re much better at HR than we are at award ceremonies!
We’re still pretty chuffed, not least because the awards recognised everything we’ve been working hard to build: a genuinely personal, no-fuss HR consultancy that supports small businesses and charities in and around Herefordshire. The awards felt extra special because we’re based in Hereford ourselves – so to be recognised by our own local business community means a lot.
Next month also marks another milestone – 3 years since our Director, Lorna, resigned from her job and incorporated Marches HR.
No investors, no franchise, no grand plan – just a solid idea, a lot of HR experience and a decision to go for it.
Since then, we’ve grown steadily, added some fantastic colleagues, moved into a new office and worked with brilliant clients. Most of our business still comes through word of mouth – something we never take for granted.
What’s next? We’re working on something exciting for small businesses and charities – more on that soon!
