CWLC makes 145 visors for NHS

Christopher Whitehead Language College and Sixth Form, Design Technology department are making visors to help frontline workers.

We noticed on social media that other schools were making the visors, so when we realised that we had the skills, equipment and material we wanted to do our bit.

Kitronik are one of our suppliers and they came up with the clever design. It uses minimal material and slots together. The visors are lightweight but quite robust. They are able to be cleaned easily and should last quite a while. https://www.kitronik.co.uk/blog/kitronik-make-nhs-frontline-ppe-visors

On Monday we made 145 visors using material we already had in our storeroom. The visors have gone straight into the wards at the hospital and we’re had lovely feedback. Staff were delighted to receive them.

“Your donation will go a long way to reassure and protect our staff in the current climate we are all in.” Julie Webb, Matron of General Surgery

The response on social media has been overwhelming. We’ve been given extra materials from John Masefield High School in Ledbury and we are working closely with Droitwich Spa High School who are also making them.

Members of the public have been so generous and kind, helping to find materials and making donations to our go fund me page. We met our target within an hour and then quickly doubled it. We are blown away by the support.

We are continuing to accept donations and will keep making for as long as we have material. We are aiming to send some to Acorns Hospice, to John Masefield High School for them to distribute in their local community and of course we want to send as many as possible to Worcestershire Royal.

Mrs Beasley, Miss Hubbard and Miss Hunt will be getting started with production again tomorrow.
