Established in 1984, Where Next is a local charity offering day services to young people and adults with learning disabilities enabling them to fulfil their potential. This includes offering real life work placements through our community based social enterprises offering work in horticulture, wood working, small parts assembly and training in vocational, life and independence skills. We also provide advice and guidance and access to many social opportunities.
People with learning disabilities are amongst those most disadvantaged in today’s society. Horticulture is proven to be very therapeutic and for people with LD this can be life changing. All our clients can take part in all aspects of growing and putting together the products we make. Whether it be a repetitive job, planting seeds, pricking out and watering, or working as part of a team. Meaningful activities promote improved inclusion and wellbeing, social skills, self-respect, independence and life skills.
We have a team of highly skilled individuals supporting our clients in a caring, nurturing way to find what people can do and focus on developing this to its full potential. Our clients work as part of a team in a caring, inclusive, structured workplace environment but with a family feel about it.
We are always looking for local businesses to work with us either by supporting us with materials, products or services. Funding remains a significant challenge for us with spiraling costs so financial support is most welcome.
If you would like to know more about us or come for a visit to see for yourself, please do get in touch.
