From Strength to Strength: BetaDen Alumni Returns as Board Member

BetaDen, an award-winning organisation providing fully-funded support to innovative technology businesses, has announced significant changes to its Advisory Board.

Martyn Gill, who graduated from BetaDen’s Cohort 4.0 technology accelerator programme in 2022, is now returning as an Advisory Board member.

Martyn is a globally recognised expert in cyber threat intelligence and cyber resilience, with 20 years of experience and extensive knowledge of the start-up scene. Martyn is a co-founder of ORNA Inc., an end-to-end incident response automation platform that helps streamline and automate detection, response, and even prevention of cyberattacks on an organisation’s assets.

Nigel Hall, Chair of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership’s Innovation Board, is stepping into the role of BetaDen’s Advisory Board Chair, after having joined as an Advisory Board member in 2022.

With decades of leadership experience in multinationals, start-ups, and scaling organisations, Nigel specialises in the growth and turnaround transformation of businesses. As a former CEO and founder, he has a track record of leading and executing strategic change, innovation, expansion, and recovery initiatives across various sectors.

Donston Powell, Director of External Affairs at BetaDen, said: “We are thrilled to announce the exciting changes to our Advisory Board. Nigel’s appointment as the Chair of the Board will significantly strengthen our strategy and network, enabling BetaDen to reach new heights.

“Furthermore, having Martyn join the board is fantastic news, as someone who has experienced the BetaDen programme first-hand, he understands the challenges facing our founders and his experience will be invaluable to our new cohort as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of scaling their businesses.”

On joining the Board, Martyn added: “BetaDen was a big part of ORNA’s journey, and the lessons learned through our time with the programme helped us make clear decisions when it came to shaping its future.

“This opportunity to give back by helping to shape the regional technology business landscape – bringing the experience and knowledge I have gained from the UK, Canada and Portugal with me – is a really important and exciting prospect for me.”

You can meet both new board appointees at BetaDen’s upcoming technology Showcase event on the 23rd of May 2024, taking place at Stanbrook Abbey, Worcester. To learn more and to register, visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/betaden-cohort-70-technology-showcase-tickets-740122194407
