Worcester City Runs, sponsored by Sutcliffe & Co Insurance Brokers, is calling on local people to get involved and volunteer at this year’s event, taking place across the city on 12th and 13th September.
With around 6,000 runners expected to take part in the Worcester City 10K, Half Marathon and junior events, organisers are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help create the fantastic atmosphere that has become such an important part of the annual event. The weekend is expected to raise more than £100,000 for charities, with thousands of runners taking to the streets of Worcester.
Event sponsor Duncan Sutcliffe, Managing Director at Sutcliffe & Co Insurance Brokers says, “Worcester City Runs is an important event in our city’s calendar. Not only does it bring thousands of people to the area, but it’s also a fantastic fundraising event for many local charities.”
Duncan added, “From cheering runners around the course to helping at the event village, providing information and supporting the smooth running of race day, there are plenty of ways for people to get involved, whether they are experienced event volunteers or simply want to try something new and be part of one of Worcester’s biggest sporting weekends.”
One of Worcester’s largest annual events, Worcester City Runs was launched in 2014 by Events of the North, in partnership with Worcester City Council and Worcestershire County Council. The event’s founder, British running icon Steve Cram, is passionate about the contribution the event makes to the local community and sees the weekend as a celebration of grassroots interest in running.
